As a BMX track announcer, I quickly realized that most kids care relatively little about the brand name on their bike or their racing gear. Sure, they love to cross the line in first place, but what really made their eyes light up was when I gave them a nickname. All of a sudden they felt just a little bit more special…as if they had arrived.
